The book I just read is titled The Dumbest Idea Ever! by Jimmy Gownley and it is a graphic novel. The book is about how’s the author’s life changed when he got sick with chickenpox at 13 years old. What happened to him back then changed his life.

Jimmy lived with his parents  in a small town in Pennsylvania. Nothing much ever happened in Giradville. He went to catholic school and played in the basketball team with his best friend Frankie. He was a good student that got staight A’s. Everything was going well for him until one day he got
sick with chickenpox. When he got sick he missed school for two weeks and feel behind in his school work. Then when he went back to school he got sick again with pneumonia and the doctor said he had to stay home another two weeks. With all that happening to him he was no longer a straight A
student and lost the chance to play in the basketball championship and his team lost. Now he felt his life had no meaning. He spent the summer hanging out with the kids from the public school and played videos games all summer long.  When he started high school he felt like he was average like everyone else and thought that maybe making a comic book would make his life have meaning because he created the book by himself.

My favorite part of the book is when Jimmy gave his finished comic book to his new friend Tony Graziano to read.  He was so excited to finish the comic book but Tony told him he didn’t like it.  He said because it was the same as every other comic book about super heroes.  He gave him the idea to write a comic book about Jimmy’s own life.  “THAT’S THE DUMBEST IDEA I’VE EVER HEARD!!!” replied Jimmy.  But then he actually liked the idea and agreed to try it.  It took a while to finish the comic book and finally he finished it and now his friends liked it because it was about them too.  He sold copies of the book at school and many students bought them.


At the end Jimmy realized his life did have meaning even if he was not as popular as before.  this experience started the beginning of the rest of his life as a comic book writer.  He has inspired many young writers to not be afraid to write about themselves in a good way.

One word

I chose the word FOCUS because this is something I need in my life right now. This word connects to all parts of me - my family life, my school life and my personal life. I know that I need to focus so that I can be successful in all I do in 2018.

My word FOCUS means that in my family life I will be more attentive to my parents and younger brother. I will pay attention to things like keeping my room clean, picking up after myself and helping around the house. I will take time to do my chores the right way so I don’t have to redo them.  Being focused will also help me not to say something mean and hurt someone’s feelings.  It will remind me to say sorry when I should.

Living my word FOCUS will also change my life because it will change my attitude towards school.  I will take time to FOCUS on my school work and understand how important it is for my future.  I don’t always like school and it’s difficult for me sometimes.  This shows in my school work when it seems like I’m not focused at all.

Finally, being focused will help in my personal life. The first step I’ll take to live this word is to FOCUS and be a better listener.  When I listen closely to others I will hear what they have to say and then I can answer the right way.  This will make conversations more interesting for me and I won’t just wander off in my head.  I will try to make the other person feel good and for them to want to talk to me. This will help my personal life as I get older.

I look forward to using my word  FOCUS as much as I can.  I will FOCUS so that I can have the best family life, school life and personal life in 2018 and beyond!

The book I read is tilted Hades: Lord of The Dead. The author is Gorge O’Connor and the genre is Greek mythology.

This book is about Hades the Greek god of the underworld.  His realm is also known as Hades or hell. The story is about when he met his bride Persephone.  My favorite part of the story is when the author describes the different parts of the underworld and what they are for.

The main character is controlling and powerful of everything but at the same time is caring and loving to Persephone. I know this because he has the power to summon anyone to the underworld but when he brought her he treated her with respect and was patient with her. He gave her time to get used to living in the underworld and made her feel special.

I like the book because it was creative in how it described what happens in the underworld. The story was interesting. I would recommend this book to a friend who likes graphic novels.  I think the theme of the book is that love can be found anywhere even in the underworld.

my book is about the simpsons. its not actually the real TV show it more like different situations. One part was they were going on vacation and one other story was when with the other charters. But this stuff are in one book.

Identity for me

my identity is that I'm Puerto Rican. I like My grandparents Puerto Rico food. I have glasses and I go to school and I don't like it that much.

Reaflection on school

This quarter I guess it ok a lot of homework and other stuff. My classes are pretty boring.

The outsider

In the outsider book/movie the similarities are that they have all the characters names they got all of those. That one part when the greasers were at the movie place and they encountered cherry and when she said get away or I’ll call the cops. Then dally said I’m so scared of the cops (sarcastically). Also when dally busted the tiers on that car.

Now the differences in the novel it’s really long and in the movie the storyline goes in a decent pace. Another difference is that Darry slaps Ponyboy  I the book and in the movie he only pushes him (week). In the movie Ponyboy died his hair blonde and in the book he doesn’t do that. In the movie Darry hug Ponyboy at the hospital and in the book he doesn’t do that.

I thought the actors did good with the characters very convincing.
